In January of 2008 Dr. Kurke was asked to deliver a 60 minute "briefing" at the US Army Management Staff College Leadership Symposium. The organizers of the symposium requested that the Lance's "keynote" should “train not entertain." The audience was made up of roughly 35% military officers and 65% civilian employees of the Department of Defense. As you will see Dr. Kurke uses a mixture of examples to appeal to both groups in the audience. Dr. Kurke was the highest rated speaker of the three day symposium and had the second largest attendance, second only to the "keynote" given by the Pete Geren, the Secretary of the Army.
